The Daily Post from WordPress.com

Before 2015 ended, I was searching for ways to motivate myself to write more and be better at it. I ended up stumbling upon The Daily Post. I told myself that I would take a swing at it–this year. Well, January 2016 ended more than a week ago and I still haven’t started.

I literally could not get myself to write anything–until I HAD TO write something for work. It was short and it took me a long time to send it out for review. I realized that the reason I stopped was not because I had nothing to write about nor was it about not having the time to write–it was simply because I no longer had confidence in my writing abilities thus my lack of motivation.

But I digress. I checked out The Daily Post again and downloaded their writing prompts ebook. I went through the list and it seems doable–as long as I allocate and hour or two a day to just write.

Here some of the prompts:

  • Mentor – Have you ever had a mentor? What was the greatest lesson you learned from him or her?
  • Local Flavor – Write a piece about a typically ‘local’ experience from where you come from as though it’s an entry in a travel guide.
  • Fill in the blank – Three people walk into a bar…
  • Goals – When you started your blog, did you set any goals? Have you achieved them? Have they changed at all?

I’m not saying that I will write every single day! I might just end up eating my words–again! But I might start with at least once a week. I think that’s better than not having anything new in my blog for 6 months!

So here’s to writing more–starting tomorrow! BWAHAHAHAHAHA I’m not even kidding. This is my entry today–it counts!!!

See you tomorrow!

2015 in review

***I’m not really happy with my review since it is clear I did not write at least once a month. ARGH!!!!***

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,300 times in 2015. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

My goals for the next 30 days

When I got this as my first topic for my 31-Day Blog Challenge I thought, “Oooo easy one for the first day”. NOT TRUE!!! I live a pretty straightforward life (most of the time) and sometime I get confused between goals and tasks–especially short term ones.

Goals.

Finish the Jumpstart-to-Skinny routine. Or maybe half? Okay, let’s just delete that as a goal. I doubt I’ll be able to finish it–even halfway. Let’s stick to more realistic ones.

Finish the photo-a-day challenge and also the blog challenge.

I’m out. Seriously. Nothing else. A month is just toooooooo short (lame excuse, right?).

I need to re-think my life.
