My LAX experience

Here I am in another country… and I just missed my connecting flight. WHAT!?!?!?!  Oh YES! What an experience!
So, let me tell you my story. 🙂 Our (Macky, Jun, and I) flight from Manila to LAX was scheduled to arrive at 7:40PM (PST) and then our connecting flight to Tucson was scheduled to leave at 10:10PM (PST).
We arrived at the Immigration Section a few minutes after 8pm… But the line was sooooo long and the process was longer than usual. We had to wait for an hour or so just to finish up with immigration and then customs… and suprise! We had 20 minutes to walk from terminal 4 to terminal 7. It’s a ten minute walk! We had our carry ons with us (we left our luggage by the transfer churva)… And I have a (tiny) baby inside my tummy.
And so by the time we got to terminal 7, we had 10 minutes but we were 45 minutes late… huhu… Okay. So we (sort of) decided to get a hotel near the airport since the ground crew changed our flight sched to the first flight the next day.
We sound okay, right?
We had no clothes!!! Waaaaaahhhh!!! And we had to walk back and forth from terminal 4 to terminal 7!I truly will not forget this day. 🙂 I can’t seem to put all the things in my head to this blog as of the moment. Maybe I’ll continue this some other day. hehe.
In the end… I can only say these.. Thank you God for the safe travel, that nothing bad happened… Thank you God that I can walk… and Thank you for taking care of us (especially my baby)…

a 7 hour wait

Sunday… My flight was scheduled to leave at 9:30am. When I was about to get my boarding pass, I was informed that MY seat was already given out. Apparently, PAL overbooked nearly all of their flights for that day. So I became chance passenger number 7… And so my 7 hour wait started.

The next flight was scheduled to depart at 11:30AM. 11:30 came and went and no plane arrived. APPARENTLY, the plane couldn’t leave Manila due to some technical ISSUES. The next flight would be at 3PM and it’s… tan da dan!!! over booked!!!

I checked the other airlines and all were full… I even checked if I can take the earliest flight the next day… Still the same… The PAL personnel said that I can take the 11:30AM flight the next day… Yeah… I have the luxury to wait since my US Embassy interview is still going to be at 7AM! waaaaaahhhh!!!!

I remained calm… Calm in a way that I didn’t shout or cry… I was just, you know, shivering. Anxiety attacks. But, it wasn’t so bad. I met a Silliman Alumnus and it just so happened that we knew the same people. So at least, I had someone to talk with.

While at the airport, I couldn’t eat… The last meal I ate was at 6am… But I just couldn’t eat. I felt that I would just puke if I did…

And then… the 3pm flight arrived… No luck there. They needed to accommodate those who didn’t make the 11:30AM flight (since no plane arrived!). So… I waited and waited and… Because God is so great… He sent 2 planes… TWO!!! DALAWA!!! DOS!!! DUHA!!! for the 11:30AM flight… which was more than enough…

And so… I left Cebu (finally) at around 4:30PM… Sitting beside a passenger who had too much to drink and too much male ego… But I’d rather think about the good things that happened to me that day… I met a new friend and I arrived in Manila safe and sound.

All thanks to my God Who IS and will always be bigger than anything else… Even PAL.

Death Note

Death Note started out as a manga that Ann (Cerebro QA) introduced to me. FYI. A manga is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons (http://wikipedia.org). I didn’t read it on a daily basis but a few days ago, I finally finished it. I searched for it in youtube and found out that they made the anime version! What a bummer! But anyway, it’s okay… At least I have something to watch in youtube aside from Naruto and Bleach.

This is not based on a true story or what… But it’s something that I hope I have… In the manga/anime, the death note is used my “shinigamis” or death gods. They would write the name of the human while thinking of the human’s face, and the human would die of heart attack in 40 seconds. The shinigami may also specify the cause of death. Get the picture?

In the manga/anime, Ryuk (a death god) left his death note in the human world on purpose. He was bored in his “wasteland”. Ryuk’s death note was found by Yagami Raito (he looks hot hehehe). Raito, at first, wanted to use the death note to rid the world of the evil people… But in the end, he became evil as well. He wanted to be the ‘god’ of the ‘new world’ that he would make.

What point am I trying to make? I have no idea… If it were real, I guess, I’d end up just like Ratio… Be someone that I’ll never be—God. I would say that evil people (I use the word evil instead of bad because I’m talking about murderers, rapists, and the likes… and “evil” politicians and businessmen) outnumber good people. And it wouldn’t hurt if we had lesser evil people.

I think I’d be able to sleep better if I knew that there were lesser evil people. I would even consider raising more than 2 kids. But, it’s not for me to say. Don’t get me wrong God, you’re doing a great job… Somehow, things are still balanced according to Your will…

I’m glad that I’m not a shinigami. I might end up killing someone who was wrongfully accused by the judge (because the judge was bribed). See what I mean.

Just try to read it. Hehe.
